    The end is nigh!

I promise no political comment, so the title of this email has nothing to do with yesterday’s election result. It is simply that the end of December now looms large and that becomes a turning point for us as we will be closed for the greater part of January. Tom and Ant are off to India this weekend with their family, so we won’t see them until the New Year and Nigel will be spending New Year’s Eve in a London airport hotel before jetting off to a smog filled Sydney to visit his daughter, Imogen.

No such foreign travel for me this winter. I just have to content myself with travels of a culinary nature, seeking out interesting food from all over the world. One such journey has led me to the cooking of Selim Kiazim, a Cypriot chef running two very sucessful restaurants in London. You may have seen her as both as an entrant and a judge on The Great British Menu. I have taken one of her dishes as inspiration for a ‘Cauliflower Platter’ on this month’s menu. Smothered in a Turkish chilli paste, roasted and served with a lemon and sumac dressing. I have added to this a cauli cheese croquette and a nutty roast cauliflower puree. I just hope the current wet spell does not ruin what is usually a fantastic Cornish winter crop.

I have been tweaking desserts for this month as well, so have a look at the menu below.

We have tables available both this evening and Saturday. Getting filled up towards the end of the month, so book soon to secure a place!

We will be opening on Thursday 30th January with a slightly belated Burns Supper of traditoinal haggis with all the trimmings, so please let me know by email if you would like a table.

Ant and Fran will be running a ‘Frantic Friday’ supper on the 10th, 17th and 24th of January.

Hope to see you all soon

Mike & Nigel and the team.
